Compassionate And Skilled Social Security Representation
Barry Schultz began representing Social Security claimants in 1986, after several years working in legal aid. If meritorious claims were denied, he would appeal them to the Federal District Court, and to the Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit if necessary. He had great success appealing unfavorable Social Security determinations, and eventually focused his efforts on appealing cases to the Appeals Council and Federal Court. After over 40 years of practicing law, Barry retired in 2021.
Cody Marvin began working for Barry in 2009, and has handled hundreds of cases both before the Social Security Administration and in Federal Court. Cody became the firm’s managing attorney in 2018, and took over after Barry’s retirement. Cody maintains the same approach – sticking with clients, even those with difficult and unusual cases, and making sure their voices are heard and claims are properly represented.
Appealing Unfavorable Decisions
A rejected Social Security claim can be the difference between living comfortably and struggling to pay for rent or food each month. We help our clients fight back after a denied application by appealing that decision for them. We have overseen the most challenging appeals processes for disability claims, overpayments and more.
Our record of success has resulted in the majority of our work coming from the referrals from other lawyers. Often, other lawyers who are unable to secure the outcome their clients need will come to us, which accounts for the majority of the work that we do. We also take cases at the Appeals Council, though most of our work comes at the federal court level.
